DFLP: Trump's steps in the application of Deal of the Century belie his statements in the Security Council on the two-state solution

The Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine (DFLP) described the words of US President Donald Trump in the UN Security Council on "his support for the two-state solution" as just a deception and a form of propaganda and at the same time a complete contradiction to his field policy in implementing the "deal of the century".

The Front said that while Trump talks about the "two-state solution", he is simultaneously taking executive steps that would prevent our Palestinian people from getting its rights to self-determination and the establishment of its own sovereign and independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital on borders before June 4, 1967, and to ensure the right of return of refugees to their homes and properties from which they have been expelled by force since 1948.

DFLP added that Trump recognized Jerusalem as the capital of Israel , transferred his country's embassy to it, recognized the legitimacy of the settlements and settlement operations, suspended his country's support for UNRWA, dropped the refugees' right to return, called for a new definition of a Palestinian refugee that would end the right of return for some 6 million refugees, stopped his financial support to the Palestinian Authority, closed the PLO office in Washington and secured the full support for the government of Israel, which led Netanyahu to comment on Trump's word and stress his insistence on what he called "the maintenance of security control from the west of the Jordan to the Mediterranean" and stipulated that the Palestinians recognize Israel as a state for the Jewish people, abolishing by this the Palestinian right to an independent state in favor of “the authority of self-government”, which would ultimately mean the removal of full national rights and the transformation of the current autonomy into a "final solution".

The Front called on the official leadership, the Executive Committee and the Palestinian Authority not to rely on Trump's statements in the Security Council and to stop betting on any role the Palestinian side would have in the "deal of the century". In the same context, it stressed that the response to Trump's statements and executive steps and Netanyahu's statements and his project to perpetuate the occupation of the Palestinian West Bank and the siege of the Gaza Strip, will be by field steps, foremost of which is the implementation of the decisions of the Central Council (15/1/2018) and the National Council (30/4/2018), the withdrawal of recognition of Israel , the cessation of security coordination with the occupation army, the disengagement from the Israeli economy and to abide by the national decision by calling for an international conference under the auspices of the United Nations and the five permanent members and under the resolutions of international legitimacy to guarantee and ensure the practical outcome of the departure of the occupation and settlement and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with full sovereignty with Jerusalem as its capital on the borders before June 4, 1967, and safeguarding the inalienable legitimate national rights of the Palestinian people.

The Front called on the Palestinian official leadership to review its policies, positions and dissertations contrary to what was adopted and agreed upon in the Central and National Councils, and to rebuild the national relations on the basis of national partnership and consensual democracy, in order to re-organize the national ranks, reinvigorate the elements of power in the Palestinian situation, and open the horizon for a popular uprising and resistance on the way to the transformation to the comprehensive national disobedience and the expulsion of occupation and settlement
