• He warned about the maneuvers undertaken by rightwing forces to prepare political coups in Venezuela and progressive countries in South America just as they did in Brazil.
The Secretary-General of the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine, Nayef Hawatmeh, addressed a greeting to the people of Venezuela and the United Socialist Party, headed by the struggler Nicolás Maduro, in a dialogue staged on Venezuelan television.
Hawatmeh referred to the need for alert, to be maintained by the forces of the Venezuelan revolution, headed by the great patriotic and progressive leader, the deceased President Hugo Chávez.
He condemned “the policies and maneuvers of rightwing and extremist forces” against revolutionary forces, their requests for the head of the revolutionary country to resign and their attempts to overthrow him in order to affect the achievements of the Revolution –represented by social justice and democracy, including parties and labor unions— just as rightwing forces had done when they staged a political coup in the Senate, through which they overthrew the revolutionary and socialist President Dilma Rousseff, behind the back of the people and of presidential elections.
Hawatmeh expressed his deepest condolences to the peoples of Cuba and Venezuela because of the demise of the two great internationalist leaders, Hugo Chávez yesterday and, today, Fidel Castro. He said that revolutionaries do not die, owing to what they have contributed and made for the peoples of South America and Central America and for the forces of national liberation revolutions and those of democracy and social justice, while they also contribute to free and independent states throughout the world.
Hawatmeh praised the role of the revolutions of Cuba and Venezuela, headed by Castro and Chávez, besides the revolutions of the peoples of South America, a performance pointed out in his book in Spanish, edited in the Venezuelan capital, Caracas, on November 2012, entitled La Izquierda Revolucionaria - La Visión del Gran Despertar (críticas y expectativas) [The Revolutionary Left – The Vision of the Great Awakening (Criticisms & Expectations)].
As the peoples and states of the world commemorated the UN General Assembly Resolution that proclaimed the “International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People”, which coincides, every year, with the date of November 29, Hawatmeh lauded the decision of Fidel Castro of Cuba to sever every form of relations with the state of the Israeli occupation since 1973. He applauded the decision by Hugo Chávez of Venezuela and Evo Morales of Bolivia, who have severed relations with the State of Israel, in response to the Zionist war of aggression against the courageous Gaza Strip in 2012.
